Q.
What makes your DX4 off road diesel fuel a premium fuel?
A.
There are no clear guidelines in the industry or with the Government as to what can be called premium diesel fuel. Because of that, there are a lot of diesel fuels on the market that claim to be premium, when in fact, they are not. Since Town & Country Co-op’s history is rooted in quality products and services, we have always been committed to providing a truly premium diesel fuel to our customers.
We only buy base diesel fuels from reputable refineries and suppliers. We do not and will not purchase product on the spot market where quality can be compromised for price. The base product is then blended with our full spectrum DX4 diesel additive package that is manufactured specifically for Town & Country Co-op by Amalgamated, Inc. of Fort Wayne, Ind. This “Cadillac” additive package provides the follow to make our DX4 a truly premium off road diesel fuel.
Centane Improver; for better startability and fuel efficiencies
Detergents; to prevent fuel deposit build up in the injector components and the combustion and post combustion areas.
Lubricity Agents: to reduce injector pump wear, especially important with the new ultra low sulfur fuels.
Stability Agents; to slow down the natural degradation process of today’s diesel fuels.
Winterization; cloud point, pour point depressants, and de-icing agents to insure cold weather performance.
We are confident that our quality base product and full spectrum additive package does provide our customers with high quality, premium diesel fuels.
Q:
Why does Town & Country stop blending soydiesel in the wintertime?
A:
Soy methyl ester is made from soy beans, and is added to on-road and off-road diesel fuel for extra lubricity purposes … this is especially important as the US EPA has enacted and enforced laws that mandate the reduction of the sulfur content of these fuels. This is to reduce air pollution. Even though the fuel comes from the refineries with adequate lubrication already added to the diesel products, soy diesel is a natural lubricant product, and some say it is better than man-made additives. Plus, the soy beans are mostly ‘home grown’, and help the USA agriculture markets!
The caution when using soy diesel is that it tends to sometimes ‘gel’, or become less fluid, during extremely cold weather. This can cause starting problems, and overall performance issues with your equipment. If the soy content of the diesel fuel is kept to a ratio of 5% or less, the majority of folks will not have a problem with ‘gelling’. But to be safe and assure our customers that you will enjoy top performance of our fuels, we decided not to add the soy typically from October / November through March. Just to be safe.
But rest assured, our premium fuels are winterized and come with a high quality additive already blended in that assures you smooth running, clean burning engines. Top performance at all times !!
